    Rhonda Soldering A stained glass window in any building (historic or contemporary) is a work of art that should be respected and cherished. Ol'House Experts loves to work with this medium and understands how important it is to keep these pieces of artwork maintained and looking beautiful for all to enjoy.

    When restoring stained glass windows, Ol' House Experts believes in repairing only what is necessary. Most windows only need cleaning and maintenance. Ol'House Experts follows the standards and guidelines for the preservation of historic stained glass set forth and published by the Stained Glass Association of America for all work.

    Definition of Terms: There are different levels of intervention to which historic stained glass may be subjected. It is important to note the differences between these terms. Following in descending order of adherence to the standards and guidelines:
    1. PRESERVATION- an act of keeping safe from injury, harm or destruction.
    2. CONSERVATION- a carefully preservation and protection of something especially a planned management of a natural resource or cultural property to prevent exploitation, destruction or neglect.
    3. RESTORATION- a bringing back to a former or unimpaired condition.
    4. REPAIR- to mend by replacing a part or putting together what is broken.
    5. STOP-GAP- something that serves as a temporary expedient.
